Permitly · Version 1.1 · Last updated: April 29, 2026
1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Permitly (the "App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the App. It covers data stored locally on your device and data processed by the third-party services we use to operate analytics, crash diagnostics, content delivery, and subscriptions.
2. Information We Collect
We collect or process the following categories of information:
| Category | What it includes | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Local study and app data | Learning progress, answered questions, review history, downloaded state selection, onboarding status, language choices, subscription consent versions, and user preferences. | On your device using SQLite and MMKV |
| Analytics data | Device and app information such as device model, operating system, locale, app opens, screen views, feature usage, and app event activity collected through Firebase Analytics. | Processed by Firebase Analytics |
| Crash diagnostics | Crash stack traces and device context collected through Firebase Crashlytics when the App crashes, including two custom attributes: state code and content mode. | Processed by Firebase Crashlytics |
| Subscription data | Subscription status, entitlement access, storefront or platform, transaction status, and an app user identifier used to validate purchases via RevenueCat. | Processed by RevenueCat and the applicable app marketplace |
| Content download logs | Standard HTTP request information (IP address, timestamp, requested file) generated when the App downloads lesson content, images, or these legal documents from our content delivery network. Not linked to any in-app identifier. | Processed by Cloudflare R2 (CDN) |
Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect Directly
The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not directly ask you to provide your name, email address, home address, phone number, or similar personal profile information inside the App.
Third-party service providers may receive technical identifiers or transaction-related data as part of their services. Those providers process data under their own agreements and policies.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- save your study progress, quiz history, settings, and language selections on your device;
- measure app usage, feature adoption, and product stability through Firebase Analytics;
- diagnose crashes and improve reliability through Firebase Crashlytics;
- verify subscription status and unlock paid features through RevenueCat;
- deliver lesson content and images to your device through our content delivery network;
- maintain legal consent records, such as the accepted Terms and Privacy Policy versions;
- improve the App, diagnose issues, and prioritize product updates.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Local study data remains on your device until you clear the App's data, reset your device storage, or uninstall the App. If you remove the App, local SQLite and MMKV data stored by the App is generally deleted from the device.
Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, RevenueCat, and Cloudflare may retain data according to their own retention policies and operational needs. We do not control those external retention periods directly.
6. Your Rights and Choices
General Choices
- You can stop using the App at any time.
- You can remove local App data by uninstalling the App or clearing device storage for the App.
- You can manage subscriptions through your Apple or Google Play account settings.
EEA, UK, and Similar Privacy Rights
If local law applies, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or portability of personal data processed about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because most learning data is stored only on your device, deletion is typically achieved by removing the App or clearing its local data.
For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions, this section is intended to support rights commonly associated with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and comparable privacy laws.
California Privacy Notice
California users may have rights to know, access, delete, and correct personal information, subject to legal exceptions. We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as part of the App's current MVP design.
This California notice is intended to address rights commonly associated with the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).
For privacy requests or questions about third-party data handling, contact us using the email address below. If your request involves Firebase, RevenueCat, or Cloudflare data, we may need to direct you to the relevant provider or ask for additional details so we can understand the request.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is designed for learner drivers and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you are under 13, please use the App only with a parent or legal guardian's permission and supervision.
We intend this approach to align with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by avoiding direct collection of child-directed account information inside the App.
8. Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the App's architecture to protect data handled by the App and our service providers. However, no app, device, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the version number and "Last updated" date on this page. Material updates may also trigger a renewed consent flow inside the App.
